ORION Prelude has Been Accepted into KickStarter. ORION Prelude is a fast-paced Sci-Fi First-Person-Shooter. It features a retro-vibe, addictive gameplay and insanely awesome features such as jetpacks, dinosaurs and vehicular combat. ORION Prelude is currently targeted for release on Steam.
ORION Prelude pays homage to other classics that we grew up on that entertained us as gamers as well as inspired us as developers. You will see inspiration from classics such as the Unreal Tournament series, Quake 2 CTF, Starsiege Tribes, early Counter-Strike betas and plenty of our own unique takes and twists in the design and mechanics. With only a first glance at ORION Prelude, you will know that this is a game being made by gamers.
ORION Prelude will have a TON of content and a large feature set. We’ve stepped up on the technology front and ORION Prelude will now be powered by the Unreal 3 technology. We have also announced that the DLC for ORION Prelude will be plentiful – and FREE!
The exciting introduction to a brand new game series. Do you like Dinosaurs, Jetpacks and Mechs? Then you’ll love ORION.
We’ve packed the game full of features that you, the gamers – truly want. How were we able to do this? Because we are gamers just like you.
What makes ORION unique?
- Awesome back story – over 12,000 years of already developed lore for the ORION universe.
- Dinosaurs (and Pterosaurs) done right. Few games have had them – and none have done them right. We are here to remedy that.
- Retro inspired. We give you tons of customization and options – ranging from servers, to controls, to player options.
- Free DLC. Do you know who thought of charging $15 for 4 maps?
- Longterm Support. We will have weekly “Play With Dev” matches. Here developers, fans and gamers can all play games together. We will play all sorts of games with you guys – in fact, right now StarCraft 2 is the fan favorite. If you own it – we’d love to play with you.
- Art and color. Some of you may not appreciate this, but for those that do – you probably have noticed how grey and brown the games have become lately. We wish to destroy this notion by infusing ORION with tons and tons of color.
There is an insane amount of weapons, items and grenades in the game. We’ve packed the game with unique weapon types and delegated them to the appropriate classes.

V.I.T.A.L (OBJECTIVE)
Ever wonder what it would be like to actually be one of those marines in a game of StarCraft 2 – on foot level?
V.I.T.A.L will be the closest experience to that. Each team has a large gated Compound. Inside are key structures – each with a unique role and purpose.
- COMMAND CENTER: Objective located here
- BARRACKS: Players spawn here
- ARMORY: Additional ammo and medical supply cabinets can be found inside here
- GARAGE: Vehicles start / spawn here.
- AIR TOWER: Air vehicles depart from here.
You also have smaller structures located across the map, including multiple GRID’s – which house the power to the gates and auto-sentry turrets for each Compound.
There are also Bunkers, Outposts, Supply Depots and the main source of power and secondary objective – The Power Core – which is located perfectly between the two warring factions.
LOCKDOWN – CAPTURE THE FLAG (COMPETITIVE)
LOCKDOWN CTF is our take on one of the most classic game modes of all time – Capture the Flag. Lockdown CTF is a classic 2-flag mode. Both teams share the same objectives:
- Capture the enemy flag.
- Defend your flag.
What we have added is a new mechanic that promotes and encourages team work. Not only are you extremely limited when carrying the flag (can’t shoot, can’t use ability, can’t sprint) – but we also have made it harder to even get to the flag.
Flags spawn in the Command Center. You spawn in the Barracks. Your team can enable a keypad to perform a security lock down, in which security gates go up around every entrance into the command center – making it more difficult for the opposing team to get inside. They will need to bring down the gates before they can get in, giving you more time to defend the structure and your flag.
However, if they are successful in bringing down the gates, your flag will be completely vulnerable and you will need to restore the security gates before they can go back up. Because of all of this, we have noticed players going at least two at a time so one can grab the flag and the other can eliminate the bad guys and open up security doors for his buddy.
CINEMATIC COOP (COOPERATIVE)
Cinematic Coop fills the void of a missing campaign in ORION: Prelude. This game mode acts as a campaign – but intended to be played with 4 players.
These are a full on missions that feature:
- A to B style objectives
- Cut-scenes
- Dinosaur & Alien enemies
- Specifically designed missions for this mode
Who charges $15 for 4 maps? That’s pretty insane. We are gamers that grew up where the developers made you simply pay for the game, and rewarded you and appreciated you by giving you extra content. What happened to that?
Well, we are going to try and bring it back. We’ve announced Free DLC for at least the first 3 packs of DLC for ORION: Prelude. We hope to make them all free and are working towards doing so.
What kind of content can you expect from DLC?
- New multiplayer levels
- New cooperative missions
- New vehicles
- New dinosaurs
- Weapon packs
- New game modes
And much much more. In fact, we love to hear what you guys want and ideas you have for DLC. It will be a very common thing where we ask you guys for idea submissions and actually release them via DLC. You can find out more about that at the Spiral Community.
